At 22 years old, Kwaku Boakye Gyamfi has become one of the youngest doctors in Ghana after completing his studies at the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Cape Coast.
Gyamfi started his journey to enter the medical field at a young age. As a child, he was enrolled at Danem Royal Montessori School in Accra and later studied at Prempeh College Senior High School, according to Face2Face Africa.
Gyamfi graduated from high school in 2017 when he was just 16 years old. Immediately after, he was admitted to university. He completed his degree on Sept. 7 after six years of studying medicine.
The 22-year-old took to social media to celebrate his achievement. He posed in a library while wearing his white coat and a stethoscope around his neck. Gyamfi also posed sitting at an office desk surrounded by medical equipment to cement his new status as a doctor.
Gyamfi is the second child among four siblings. According to the Church of Pentecost, his father works as a Business and Financial Advisor, and his mother is a caterer. Both of his parents are from Sekyere Central in the Ashanti Region, but the family now lives in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
At 22-years-old he joins a rare roster of young doctors in the country. Two years ago, Erica Maame Abena Pomaa Ntiamoah Mensah became one of the youngest doctors in Ghana after completing her studies at Accra College of Medicine at the age of 21. Before her, Vanessa Aseye Mensah-Kabu was the youngest doctor after entering the profession at 22.
